About Cast
With Ryan’s influence still strong in their minds, CAST was founded in 2012 by brothers Lars and Silas Chickering-Ayers. Their vision was simple: create better access to the mountains without ever sacrificing the ability to ski them to the fullest with a reliable, safe, and confidence-inspiring binding system. What began as a small set of early prototypes has grown into the development of the CAST Freetour 2.0 — a true no-compromise solution for alpine ski touring.
Today, Silas and Lars continue to lead CAST as it has grown into a full-capacity, in-house binding manufacturer with top-of-the-line prototyping, machining, and manufacturing capabilities. With the support of an incredible community and an ever-growing team of athletes from around the world, we continue to pursue our core mission: design and build the best alpine and ski touring binding possible.
Based in the heart of the Teton Mountains, we are fortunate to develop and test our gear in the same terrain that inspired its creation. We remain deeply grateful to our loyal customers and community, and we have no plans to stop pushing forward — always striving to build stronger, safer, and more capable tools for the mountains we love.
Cheers.

The Flyin Ryan Hawks Foundation is a non-profit endeavor inspired by the life of Ryan Hawks. The foundation was founded in April of 2011 after Ryan, a well-known and widely respected freeskier, passed away from injuries sustained during a Freeskiing World Tour event in Kirkwood, CA. To honor his legacy as a person, his family set up a non profit foundation called the Flyin Ryan Hawks Foundation. Please consider donating to the foundation.
